Movie: Captain László Ocskay the Forgotten Hero

Laszlo OcskayDirected by Gergely Fonyó, the film is based on the stories of survivors about the bold rescue operation conducted by László Ocskay, Captain of the Royal Hungarian Army during the Second World War. Thanks to Ocskay’s activities, about two thousand Jewish men, women, and children escaped in the building of the former Jewish high school on Abonyi Street in Budapest (running time: 70 min).

Special Presentation by John Kovacs, our past president, who will relate his personal experiences having escaped deportation to Auschwitz from Miskolc and having also escaped from a labor service group. He was in Budapest along with his father, who just escaped from the Ukraine labor force camp when they were taken to this very school. This was the final chapter of their survival.
